Australian machine tool firm sets up its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Waigaoqiao

ANCA Pty Ltd, Australia’s largest computer numerical controlled grinding machine manufacturer, has set up its Asia-Pacific headquarters, Anca Machine Tool (Shanghai) Co Ltd in Waigaoqiao Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park recently.

The park has been designated as the upcoming China International Import Expo’s long-term exhibition and trading platform, through which ANCA and other eight machine tool companies will participate in the CIIE. Of them, six have already settled in the park.

Expanded from the group’s old head office in the park, ANCA’s new three-story headquarters, with a total floor area of 2,800 square meters, will house an exhibition hall to showcase the group’s latest products and will be equipped with real-time management demonstration system based on the Internet technologies.

Zheng Chao, general manager of ANCA’s China operation, said ANCA’s business in China has been on the rise since the group moved into the park in 2004, and China has become the group’s biggest global market. Last year the sales in China accounted for 45 percent, or 500 million yuan (US$78.6 million), of the group’s total global annual sales, and ANCA has nearly 600 customers in the country now.

ANCA Group will take advantage of the upcoming CIIE to explore further into the Chinese market and showcase its latest products, which are combined with industrial automation and the Internet. About 99 percent of Australia’s machine tools are exported to the overseas markets, and ANCA will showcase its latest technologies at the expo to increase its global recognition, said Zheng.

With a total floor area of nearly 100,000 square meters, the park’s phase one and two projects have attracted about 140 machine tool companies from a dozen countries and regions, among which 33 companies have been settled in Shanghai Free Trade Zone’s bonded area.

So far, 95 percent of the companies in the park are foreign companies, and the park is the most aggregated area for machine tool companies, said Guo Yongjian, general manager of the Machine Tool Center of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Group Co.

Also, Waigaoqiao Machine Tool Center will provide the CIIE participating companies with speedy custom registration for their displaying products, and it will take the companies seven days at most to finish declaring their exhibiting products.

With the support from Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the park will promote intelligent equipment’ core components inspection services, set up national intelligent manufacturing equipment core components’ inspection platform, and build an international intelligent equipment manufacturing, trading and service base.
