Waigaowaio FTZ starts registering import of infants’ formula milk powder

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone recently handled its first batch of registered infants’ formula milk powder imported from the Netherlands, and its clearance procedure only took three days.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China stipulated that from January 1, 2018, the formula of imported infants’ formula milk powder needs to be registered with the China Food and Drug Administration and put the registration serial number on the package to be sold on the Chinese mainland.

The inspection and quarantine department of Waigaoqiao FTZ said this batch of infants’ milk powder had procured registration among other brands, and they enjoyed convenient customs clearance as well.

Since the adoption of the new clearance methods, the clearance time of imported formula milk powder has been shortened from one month to three working days.
