Pudong firms score 70.51 in performance evaluation

Companies in Pudong scored an average of 70.51 out of a full mark of 100 for their overall business performance, according to a white paper released jointly by the Pudong District government and the Shanghai Free Trade Zone Administration last Wednesday.

The white paper said the private sector in Pudong scored an average of 90.12 in business performance and was rated “extremely active”.

The number of companies registered in Pudong increased 2.66 times in the past four years to 373,051 and their gross registered capital surged 5.42 times to 7.66 trillion yuan (US$1.12 trillion) at the end of 2016.

Companies in new energy and environmental protection sectors grew the fastest last year with the number of new energy firms and environmental protection enterprises increasing 25.46 percent and 22.95 percent respectively.
