Joint boarding inspection launched on international ships

The Yangshan Port Maritime Affairs Department collaborated with the Yangshan Immigration Inspection Station and the Yangshan Customs to carry out a joint boarding inspection of China Hong Kong’s COSCO Shipping Libra on November 2.
The ship was the 200th one receiving the joint boarding inspection since the practice on international ships was launched to facilitate customs clearance at Yangshan Port, offer convenience to shipping firms and support the development of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone Lingang New Area.
As a core part of the Shanghai International Shipping Center, the container throughput of Yangshan Deep Water Port accounted for 43 percent of that of the whole city.
The throughput of the port reached 18.42 million TEUs after the fourth phase of the port’s automated container terminal was operated in 2018 and is estimated to surpass 20 million TEUs this year.
In the first 10 months of this year, 6,646 international voyage container ships, 69 large oil tankers, and 104 liquefied gas carriers entered or left from Yangshan Port.
