‘Shanghai Catalogue’ Forum discusses cultural trade in FTZ

The 2019 “Shanghai Catalogue” Forum, with the theme of “Art, Gateway to the Future”, was held on September 24 to share insights on cultural trade development in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.

Last year, the cultural trade of the Shanghai FTZ reached 40 billion yuan (US$5.67 billion), nearly 80 times more than that in 2011.
The FTZ has introduced 1,200 enterprises, 15 times the figure in the initial stage. According to the 2019-2023 plan for the zone, it will develop a 100-billion-yuan industrial platform for cultural trade.

According to Hu Huanzhong, chairman of Shanghai Free Trade Zone International Culture Investment and Development Co Ltd, the FTZ has established a one-stop bonded service platform, which runs all year round; a copyright service center; an international artwork bonded service center; a cultural innovation IP operation center; and an artwork assessment and identification center.

So far, Shanghai FTZ has implemented 10 facilitation measures for art trading. Artworks are allowed to enter the FTZ before declaration and can be displayed within five working days after approval.
