Liebherr Group to set up China HQ in Waigaoqiao FTZ

Liebherr Group, a Swiss multinational equipment manufacturer, plans to set up its Chinese headquarters in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, the Pudong Times reported yesterday.

Liebherr China Co Ltd has signed an agreement with Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Xin Development Co Ltd to set up its Chinese headquarters in the southwest of the FTZ with a land area of 17,400 square meters.

The total construction area of the buildings will exceed 20,000 square meters, providing space for offices, as well as research and development, testing, technical support and after-sales service facilities.

The construction of the project is expected to kick off at the beginning of 2020, and it will be put into use in 2021.

Liebherr Group has had its presence in Shanghai since July 2000 when the group set up its service company in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone.

Last September, Liebherr LAMC Aviation (Changsha) Co Ltd delivered the first China-made landing gear for the C919 large passenger aircraft to the developer.

Liebherr LAMC Aviation (Changsha) Co Ltd in Changsha, central China’s Hunan Province, focuses on developing landing gear systems for the country’s aircraft projects. Liebherr LAMC Aviation (Changsha) Co Ltd is a 50-50 joint venture between AVIC Landing Gear Advanced Manufacturing Corp and Liebherr Aerospace.
