Shanghai foreign trade up 4.3% YoY in July

Last month, Shanghai’s total foreign trade grew 4.3 percent from a year earlier to 294.8 billion yuan (US$41.6 billion), with 118.5 billion yuan of exports and 176.3 billion yuan of imports.

In the first seven months, Shanghai’s foreign trade totaled 1.88 trillion yuan, down 0.9 percent year on year as the trade deficit declined 5.6 percent to 375.6 billion yuan.

Shanghai is continuously optimizing its foreign trade structure, with the general trade percentage increasing and processing trade percentage falling.

In the first seven months, Shanghai’s general trade grew 1.6 percent to 992.9 billion yuan and accounted for 52.8 percent of the total foreign trade.

Processing trade dropped 8.2 percent to 373.85 billion yuan, which accounted for 19.9 percent of the total foreign trade.
